I have gone to more then 25
concerts, the only thing that is missing is a meet & greet with the
band.. I have a guitar where I collect autographs and there is one I
really would like to have and that's the one from James.
I'm going
to see the band in Werchter (Belgium) on may 28th, Is it possible that
you can help me with a meet & greet ? I know I'm a stranger to you
but it would mean the most for me, of course I can send you all of my
details for safety etc... thanks very much
Geert Van de Meutter

Re: PIBC #43- Wha?!!

I was just telling my wife the other day, just how much I missed PIBC. Having understood it, however, I remain unconvinced that my computer or my ipod are appropriate venues for this music, at least for me personally. Music isn't one-way; listeners make an investment in it as well. Perhaps there is just enough dissonance in the world as it is that for some, investing in more of it is untenable.

Re: Checking for a Pulse

Hey Aron, have you listened to Wolves in the Throne Room? My absolute love has always been jazz. I physically followed Errol Garner, Ella Fitzgerald, Jimmy Smith all over the country to see their preformances..I bet I listen to more drummers and pianists than you and PD do together.
Just don't leave me out when I know I had tremendous influences on both of you. The use of unrelated and superficially are suspect but probably true. This was a weird internal call to arms, as plateaus appear through life, often after hiding in ruts for too long. I'd like to see our gestures actually quiet the stream rather than amplify it. Not all junk food, not all quinoa, but a balance of information that nurtures, challenges and catalyzes further movement and learning. Thanks for taking the time to read and respond.

Re: The Canyon Effect

Great post. Thanks! Triggered my memory of the "Harmonic Convergence" a dud which I think ended up more of a "moronic convergence". This made me go look up the word convergence one definition of which I thought would amuse you...

I would not for any amount of money in the world go to a Super Bowl game because I really hate crowds. Really. It's cool that you can get to the stadium by train though...very cool. On that score, I'm jealous.

On the plus side, you didn't have to watch the game on Fox (of course, it is for that very reason that I did not watch the game at all). On the downside, you missed the Pug attack commercial, which was by far the highlight of the game, I'm sure.

Re: In the ever-lovin’ zone

That's sick!

Re: The Drummer for Planet Earth’s House Band

Thanks Tim,

I came across your site looking for artwork for Time Loves a Hero, and (somehow) your site came up. Karmic hat tip to google.

I had the honor of going to dinner one time with Richie in Ft. Worth, TX. Was working as a member of the street crew/underground support movement and LF would reward fans with letting us in for the sound check and sometimes getting an invite to have dinner with a member of the band.

Richie was healthy (this was 10 years ago) but not once in two hours did I see his hands uncurl. So many years of playing the drums seemed to leave him with his fingers almost always curled around sticks that weren't even there.

Richie was gracious and funny and at one point I got to see some of the humor in him that I've read about. I'm a very big guy and at one point he asks "Well, you're a big guy... what size shirt do you wear?" When I answered "It depends... either an extra large or an extra-extra large" Richie bangs his hand on the table and says "See... that's the f**kin' problem... you big guys you get Extra large, small people get extra small.... I'm a medium. Nobody makes Extra-Medium!! I want a shirt that's more medium than medium!".

I really enjoyed reading your post and agree that Feat was probably the best under appreciated band for the 80s and 90s. I've got a clip of a recent Little Feat show on youtube that pays homage to his comment here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

Sail on Richie... you are missed.
